kyleKyle Woodruff is a local culinarian. A resident of Virginia’s Tidewater region for most of his life, he learned basic culinary skills cooking in area kitchens. After graduation from New Kent High School, he worked for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

Kyle is a proud product of the American Culinary Federation Apprenticeship Program at Colonial Williamsburg. While at the Foundation, he worked in every kitchen, received the 2005 and 2006 Apprentice of the Year Award, and competed for the title of ACF Junior Culinarian of the Year for the Southeast Region. He graduated from the program as a Certified Culinarian in September 2007.

Upon graduation, he served as a journeyman chef at the Williamsburg Inn. At River’s Inn, Kyle focuses on the restaurant’s philosophy of using local fresh produce and seafood to create bold tastes while keeping presentations simple and elegant. The new opportunity allows him to utilize training and expand his culinary knowledge and skill under the direction of executive chef Hans Schadler.
